How it works

The idea for the digital product passport arose many years ago from a specific need: the protection of brands and products. Brand manufacturers were looking for a solution that would reliably prevent counterfeiting and tampering while creating transparency along the supply chain. With our track & trace technology for gray market detection and our digital product IDs, we created a solution early on that offers manufacturers genuine protection, traceability, and trust.

We integrate the Digital ProductPass PLUS into your existing infrastructure via interfaces. This applies to both your internal systems and data sources, such as ERP, PIM, and CRM systems, as well as your external infrastructure, such as websites and (web) apps. You can use the dashboard to manage role assignments and decide who can see which data and services.

We always take European Union standards into account during implementation. To ensure uniform implementation, the European Commission has commissioned the standardization organizations CEN, CENELEC, and ETSI to develop a standard for the digital product passport.

DPP as a software solution for EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230

The Digital Product Passport is ideal as a central basis for implementing the EU Machinery Directive. Safety and operating instructions, risk assessments, conformity information (e.g., CE marking), software/firmware versions, and maintenance history are bundled together for each product and kept up to date. A unique product ID provides the mandatory information for operators, service personnel, and auditors at any time in multiple languages and versions.

DPP as a Software Solution for the EU Packaging Regulation 2025/40

August 12, 2026, is coming sooner than expected: As of that date, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will take effect, requiring manufacturers to use QR code labeling and provide complete packaging information in accordance with Articles 12 and 13 of EU Regulation 2025/40. The digital product passport is the digital identity of a physical product. It consolidates verified data on materials, origin, manufacturing, quality, sustainability, and service throughout the product’s entire life cycle. Customers, retailers, and service partners can access this information at any time via a QR code.

Each product is assigned a unique ID. This allows you to uncover gray market flows, expedite product recalls, and make counterfeiting more difficult.

4. Does the solution comply with the EU Ecodesign Regulation and the Machinery Directive?

Yes, the Digital Product Passport PLUS meets the requirements of the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (DPP/ESPR) and serves as a solid foundation for compliance with the EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230. Safety and operating instructions, CE marking/declarations of conformity, firmware versions, and maintenance records are provided on a product-specific basis. The EU is rolling out the DPP in stages starting in 2027, beginning with batteries in February 2027. The remaining product groups will follow from 2028 onward.

5. How do we integrate the Digital Product Passport PLUS?

Integration is achieved via APIs in ERP, PIM, and CRM systems, as well as on websites and in (web) apps. Roles and permissions are managed through a dashboard. The solution can be deployed both on-premises and in the cloud, including data protection and access control.
